Now, I really have to thank Windows updates for messing up my equation editor. It was a blessing in disguise! After 2 days of trying to fix it, I remembered a little notice that would come up from time to time when I was using equation editor telling me that MathType was a powerful upgrade. Whenever I clicked the button to find out more however, another notice would come up saying I could not be connected, so I struggled with my equation editor all these years. Last night I decided to google MathType and learnt all about it. I downloaded the 30 day free trial and it is working beautifully. I can edit all my old equations and use the new features for a more professional look. I will certainly buy the product before the 30 day is up, it is only $58 if you are an academic. But even if I did not buy it, I would be left with MathType Lite, which is basically Equation Editor, but you get to keep all the new fonts. No need for Microsoft Equation 3.0 anymore!
Microsoft Equation 3.0 Download Installation Process. When installing Microsoft Equation 3.0 download you start by opening Microsoft Word. To insert the equation, you need to choose Insert, Object, and Microsoft Equation 3.0 and then click Ok. Once this is done, a highlighted area appears along with equation editing palette. Oct 02, 2016 I have been using Microsoft equation 3.0 for ages. Suddenly when I tried inserting an equation yesterday it gave me a weird screen. The box splits in two I.
My new name is MathTypeLove. Thanks to the community for your help.

I want to open older Word documents in Word 2016. My problem is that top of the equations are cut off. Equations are made with Equation editor 3 and 3.1.
I have tried to set line spacing to single but it did not help.
Same problem accurs if you add new equations, Add, object, equation 3.0.

A found two ways to fix my equations.
- Save the document to OpenDocument(*.odt) format. Reopen the odt document and equations should be fixed. Now you can save the document back to docx format if you want.
- Open original document with equation problems in LibreOffice. LibreOffice shows equations without cutting problems. Save document to a new docx file. Now old Equation editor 3.0 equations are coverted to new format. You may need to adjust equation placements.
